Now Zealand occupies a low position in the world of flying. In iaet, it can scarcely be considered to have “ taken off.” Consider how aviation can annihilate distance and the supreme advantage to the dominion in_ securing quickest transit not only within its own coasts, but at a later stage overseas also. Any definite move that furthers the progress of aviation is to bo welcomed as a contribution to the national need. In the case of one project at least, the Aero Club art Union, which closes on Monday next, everyone can help by the purchase of one or more of the 2s Gd tickets, at the same time obtaining the chance of securing ovio of the big prizes offered. The objects of the art union are first to provide un aerodrome with suitable landing grounds in Auckland for all planes, and second to obtain additional machines for the extension ot flying facilities. It will be realised at once how essential these aerodromes in the various centres will be for the establishment of regular aviation services in New Zealand; ~
