‘JOHN PEEL'

PICTURESQUE CELEBRATIONS HUNTING HORN USED Pm* A**«ci»tion—Bj Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 17. (Received October 18, at 12.45 p.m.) There was a picturesque celebration at the Caldbeck centenary of the limiting song ‘John Peel,’ including a combined hunt, at which Peel was impersonated and the pack was summoned by the horn which he used. The assemblage lustily rendered the song. Unfortunately the pilgrimage was marred by coarse vandalism. Sheets of iron were tied to conceal the inscription on the memorial stone to the author of the song (John Woodstock Graves), who died at Hobart.—Australian Press Association.
