Von Sanders, says; “ He was a most chivalrous foe, as all who fought him would agree Ho might often have easily tired on our wounded, yet lie always avoided any breach of the rules of war. His name after the war was listed among those to bo tried for their actions during hostilities, but f sent a letter to ‘ The Times ’ saying 1 was assured that I spoke for the Dardanelles troops in saying that they did not wish to see him tried.
