’ MR J, H, THOMAS'S VISIT MIGRATION AND TRADE. Piess Associated —By Telegraph—Copyright. OTTAWA, August 17. Mr J, 11. Thomas, British Minister for Unemployment, arrived at Ottawa on Saturday to discuss various matters with the Canadian Government, particularly immigration. Ho declared: “ Wo have Ho desire to dump our people anywhere.” • He expressed confidence that General Dawes and tho Prime Minister (Mr Ramsay MacDonald) would reach an agreement on armaments. : Asked for observations on Lord Beavcrbrooks’ campaign for Frcetrade within tho Empire, ho said; “I do not think i it is a campaign.” “Merely a stunt,” suggested the newspaper man. “ Yon have supplied my deficiencies of speech,” tho Minister replied. Mr Thomas said ho would discuss every aspect of trade relations as they affected Britain and Canada. —Australian Press Association.
