CHOLERA IN INDIA
HEAVY TOLL OF LIFE RAVAGES IN SIND Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. DELHI, August 16. Thousands of panic-stricken refugees are fleeing from the Middle and Upper Sind, where the ravages of cholera arc following floods and taking a heavy toll of life. Over 11,000 people have taken refuge at Karachi alone. There is hardly a town or village in Sind not stricken with the disease. lb is feared that,there has been great loss of life in the forest areas owing to the floods, only the tops of trees showing, and rescue being impossible. Hundreds of villagers are marooned in the treetops. In the capital of Khairpur State, the floods rose neck-high as a result of the Indus breaking its hanks, and the city has been evacuated.— Australian Press Association.
