Uifteit States architects are being ai to put their signatures on the ings they design, so that the public may be educated to the idea that a a really good building is a work of art. Mr H. L Mencken, the American cynic, proposes that committees should inspect new buildings in every town and city once « year, and that the designer of the ugliest structure should be publicly hanged in front of his own creation.
