HEW GOVERNMENT'S PURCHASES CONTRAST IK ACTIVITY [FIIOM Ol’H PaULIAMEXTXRY ReVOBTEK.J WELLIGTON, August 17, The accelerated process' of land jmrchasc for subdivision which lias followed the appointment of the new Government is shown by the information mada available regarding the details of the Government’s purchases. These cover the period from December, 1928, till July 31, 1929. The properties bought number fourteen, with a total area of 13.027 acres _ The total,. • purchase price is £255,467. and tho average - prioa per acre £l9 12s 3d. The proposed subdivisions number seventy-one, and tho average capital value of- each subdivision is £3,000. Following the rush of soldiers’ settle* ment there was an almost complete cessation of purchases of land for sub-' division, the former Government from April 1, 1924, till it 'went out of'office* in November, 1928, having bought only thirteen properties of 20,152 acres,- at a. cost of £178.878.
