ANCIENT SYNAGOGUE

TRANSJORDAN DISCOVERY JERUSALEM, July 31. It is reported from Jerash (Transjordan) that a synagogue has been discovered beneath an excavated church there. It most probably belonged to the Jews living in Gerasa before the Jewish revolt.

The British School of Archaeology and the Yale University Expedition, working jointly under the direction of Mr W. Crowland, recently discovered two churches connected by a common atrium, one of which dated from the year a.d. 529.
