The undeniable charm of male voice part singing is one that is always appreciated. It can be sombre, dignified, inspiring, of irresistible power in rhythm! o command, dashing in spirit, and buoyant in effect. Such variety is the keynote of the programme of the Returned Soldiers’ second concert of the season. The selected numbers include ‘ Queen of the Night,’ ‘ The Curfew,’ the old favourite hunting song ‘ John Peel,’ ‘ An Evening Lullaby/ ‘ Awake, iEolian Lyre/ ‘ Thor’s War Song/ ‘The Pilgrims’ Chorus’ (‘Tannhauser’), ami ‘La Retraite ’ (by Laurant l)e Rille). Lighter vein will be found in ‘ The Laughing Chorus/ which will complete an attractive selection. The choir will have the assistance of Miss Irene Homiblow, who will sing ‘ The Restless Sea/ by Benins-Wilson. An added attraction will be Miss G. Smith, who will play two ’cello solos. The choir soloists will be Mr George Crawford, whose choice is ‘ Your Tiny Hand is Frozen/ and Mr T. D. White, who will sing ‘ The Yeoman’s Wedding Song.’ Mr John Leech will conduct, arid Mr C. R.
