OBITUARY

MBS WILLIAM ROBERTSON Bt the death vesterday of Mrs William Robertson at the age of ninety years. Port Chalmers lost another link «f association with the early days, wher a happy greeting on the road had not been superseded by the lormalitv of a later day. Mrs Robertson was twenty-three years of age when »be left Galashiels, Scotland, with her husband, bound for New Zealand in the barque Sevilla. The vessel lelt Greenock on July 30, 1862, and on September 3 Father Neptune came on board at the Line, where the passengers, two sailors, a steward, and a stowaway were shaved in conformity with the traditions pf the sea. Ihe Sevilla reached Port Chalmers on iNovembei 8, and the following morning the steamer Samson conveyed the passengers to Dunedin Mr and Mrs Robertson first resided at Sawyeis Bay, where Air Robertson and a cousin ran a sawmill for several years. Later be was employed at Baiichop s sau null at Port Chalmers. Mr Robertson ptedeceased his wife twenty-six years ago.
