HEART BEATS

AUDIENCE HEARS SOUNDS JOHANNESBURG, July 27. A Johannesburg audience last night ■listened to the amplified noise of a human heart. The experiment was conducted by Dr A D. Stammers, Professor of Psychology at the Witwatersrand University. During the lecture at the medical school the beating of the heart could be plainly heard in every corner of the main lecture theatre. Dr Stammers was lecturing on electrical methods of physiologisinvestigation, and demonstrated several electrical appliances, including an apparatus he has arranged for amplifying the sound of the heart.
