SURGEONS IN CONFERENCE
PAH-PACIFIC GATHERING Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, HONOLULU, August 14. The, Pan-Pacific Surgical Conference has been opened, nine Australian ana two New Zealand delegates being present. A Hawaiian band played the National Anthems of all the countries represented, while representatives of Pacific peoples marched in procession, carrying flags. Mr Riley Allen (president of the Chamber of Commerce), Mr Wallace Farrington (of the Pan-Pacific Union), and Mr Alexander Ford welcomed the delegates. Dr Ralph Worrall responded for the Australian College of Surgeons, Dr W. A. Osborne for the branch of the British Medical Association, and Dr Hardie Neal for New Zealand. The regular sessions will be started on Thursday. Delegates hope that a permanent organisation in the Pacific will result from the conferefffie.—Australian Press Association. PAPER BY DR OSBORNE. HONOLULU. August 15. (Received August 16, at 11 a.m.) Dr Osborne, of Melbourne, address' the Pan-Pacific Surgical Conference on ‘ Some Applications of Recent PI. ' ology to Surgeons.’ The address was largely of professional interest. He praised the breadth of outlook shown by placing such a paper on the programme, and quoted Hamilton and Russell’s conclusions regarding the treating of fractures according to physiological principles.—Australian Press Association.
