U.S.S. GO. STILL UNDECIDED HEW TRANSPACIFIC AND 'INTERISLAND VESSELS [Per United Press Associitiox.] AUCKLAND, August 15, Captain J. Foster, marine superintendent for the Union Steam Ship Comiiuny, in an interview, said that there was such a. transformation in regard to power for the propulsion of big modern steamers that all the various types used or introduced had to be studied. No definite conclusion had been reached by tho company in connection with the now big mail liner planned lor the transpacific trade, while there was also under consideration the replacement of the steamer Maori in the interisland service with a new vessel. The company had .placed orders at Home for a new oil-burning cargo vessel for tho dominion coastal trade, which was expected to bo ready next February. It was proposed that the vessel lor the intcrislnud trade would be ol the most modern design, and fast, hut the kind of drive, as in the case of the new vessel planned for the transpacific trade, had yet to be decided.
