GAKTERBURY The Auckland Rugby Union hist night considered a request from Canterbury that an outside referee should be appointed for the Auckland-Canter-, bury match hero on August 31. The Auckland Union decided to reply, pointing out that fhis was contrary to the usual custom, ‘except in the case ot Ranfnrly Shield matches, and requesting Canterbury to agree to an Auckland referee.
