SHORT-WAVE RADIO.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —t thought it would interest you to know that while listening on my short wave radio to-night at 6.35 I heard rather a unique feat in short wave radio two-way' telephony between 2ME, Sydney, and G.8.X., London. It. was a conversation between a Indy in London and her son lying in Sydney Hospital, a distance of about L0,0(1U miles. Unfortunately I was only able to bear one side of the conversation at a time, but the speech from both cuds came across perfectly clear, on the part of Sydney more so than London. Tho son told his mother that it was through tho goodness of the Sydney 1 Guardian ’ ho was able to speak to her over such a great distance. Ho asked her numerous questions, one qf which was whether she had sheared the dog yet. The mother was asking her son how his iniury was progressing, and also stated she was sending some papers to him. All this was quite understandable on tho loud speaker. After this conversation was finished tho officials of both stations conversed on different sutnects, such as golf and the weather and the relative sizes of Australian cities and English cities. —I am, etc., G.C.W.

N.B —2ME, Sydney, has since announced that the lad lying in the Sydney Hospital was injured through falling down the hold of tho ship Napier, and was admitted to the hospital, where he was constantly _ calling for his widowed mother. This led the Amalgamated 'Wireless Company to attempt tho broadcast. —G.C.W. August 14.
