Taverner, Minister of Publicity, of the scheme of work mappeo out by his publicity, officers. It is proposed that the Governmexu publicity enterprise shall invest in a Western Union talkie plant, and com incnco work on lines laid down. Dia logue, sound synchronisation, and music (at a later date) will be features of the new Government films, and a start can be made as soon as the apparatus is purchased. Meantime film work is marking time. Mr R. Fenton, assist ant publicity officer, ivho visited Aus tralia for two months, returned to New Zealand on Monday, and is reporting on the talkie position, which formed the main reason for his trip. Pending the arrival of the talkie plant Mount Cook and Tongariro National Park will be filmed; then a change is likely to take place in methods of production. The colour process plant recently acquired bv the Government has been held up because of unsatisfactory results. '
