LADIES’ HOCKEY

The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago Ladies Hockey Association v.as held on -Monday evening, when there were present —Mrs Nelson (in the chair). Misses Turnbull, Tay*tor, Kingston, Ireland, Adams, and Mr A. W. Tucket. A letter was received from South Otago Ladies’ Hockey Sub-association advising that it would send a team to play Otago at Dunedin on August 24. With reference to the suggestion that a primary match be held as a curtainraiser. it was decided that, as no information had been received from South Otago, this match be not played. Also on August 24, at Logan Park, it was arranged that an A grade knock-out seven-a-side tournament be held as well as a B grade tournament, if sufficient entries were received, which were to bo in the bands of the secretary this week. The winner of each grade would receive a trophy to the value of £1 Is.

Permission was granted to Training College A team (winners of A grade competition) to travel to Milton on Saturday', August 17, to play the Milton A team (winners of the South Otago' competition). Trie Executive decided to send a team to Central Otago to play Maniototo at, say, Ranfurly, on August 29 or 30, and to play Central at either Clyde, Alexandra, or Cromwell on August 31, Central Otago Association to arrange the ground. Mrs Nelson reported that the primary school girls had had a very successful seven-a-sido tournament on Saturday, when High Street proved winners of the Millie Hudson Cup, and Mosgiel runners-up. At the close of the tournament Mrs R. Hudson presented the cup to the winners. Cheers were given for Mrs Hudson, the referees, and a special one for Miss Hughes, who, with her willing helpers, had organised the successful tournament. The following B grade matches are arranged for next Saturday:Ist Section,.—Taieri v. Technical School, on Oval No. 2 (Mr T. Moore) ; Momona I. v. Technical Old Girls L, ■rat Logan Park I. (Mr J. A. Robinson); Kaikorai v. Training College 1., at Logan Park 11.,. at 1.30 p.m. (Mr 11. Wallace); Otago 11. v. Technical Old Girls 11., at Mornington (Mr W. Martin). 2nd Section.—Triangle I. v. Momona IL, at Domain (Mr A. Chapman); Otago I. v. Triangje 11., at Logan Park No. 3 (Miss Adams); Technical Old Girls HI. v. Otago 111., at Jubilee (Miss V, M'Millan); Ex-High defaulted to Training College IJ. A grade trial matches will bo held on Oval No. 1 (referees, Messrs J. Gray and D. Miller).
