CHARING CROSS STATION

REMOVAL TO SOUTH OF THAMES LONDON, August 20. The Southern Railway and the London County Council, it is reported, have agreed to a scheme to move Charing Cross railway station to the south of the Thames, the council paying, the cost of a new station and hotel, in addition to £350,000 compensation. It is estimated that tho scheme will cost £10,770,000. It will enable vast improvements in the Strand, and will include an imposing road traffic bridge linking Trafalgar square with the new station south of the Thames, where the opportunity will be seized to create an embankment, rivalling the north side.
