MOSGIEL BAND QUEEN CARNIVAL
Much enthusiasm prevails in the preparations for the Mosgiel Band’s queen carnival. Last night’s mooting was largely attended, the mayor (Mr \V. E. M'Lean) presiding. Tile secretary (Mr Williamson) reported that the hall had been engaged for the three nights, and all routine work was proceeding apace. The Canadian Queen supporters applied for floor space for a roll-down game.—Granted. It was decided to thank the school committee and the school children lor the offer to assist with articles made in tho woodwork and other classes. The Entertainment Committee reported that good progress was being made, blisses L. Cameron and Kovalevski, who are supervising the fancy dancing, reported that the programme was practically complete. This, with the clients singing and other stage attractions, should make a good draw. The children’s dip was taken charge of by tho Hawaiian stall, and the shooting gallery by Mr P. Rogers. A complaint was made that all stalls were not confining themselves to the area allotted for canvassing purposes. An explanation followed, and an appeal by tho chairman to those entrusted with Hjo collecting to adhere to the boundaries marked out was made.
It was reported that the arrangements for the coronation of tho queen were well advanced.
