SOCCER • MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS 'JTiu monthly mooting of the Management Committee of fcho Otago Football Association was held in .the Y.M.C.A. last evening, when Mr J. 1!. M'Callmn presided. A deputation consisting of .Messrs Blackio (Morniugion) and Armishaw (Technical Old Bovs) attended the meeting and suggested that a benefit match be arranged for A Munro, who was seriously injured in a match on Saturday, Mr Blackio stated that Munro was married, and would possibly bo confined to the hospital for a period of six weeks. Naturally, when Munro left hospital he would be in a rather unfortunate position financially. The Technical Club had offered its support in tho arrangement of a match. The chairman said that tho matter was a very serious one,' and the association would like to see something done for Munro. He hoped that the Mornington Club would make a_ big effort to assist Munro. ft was impossible for the association to arrange a match in the meantime, and ho suggested that the matter bo held over till the Charity Cup competition was finished, when a match might be arranged among the leading teams. On the. motion of Mr J. Simpson, it was decidedtn write to Munro, expressing the association's sympathy in his unfortunate position, and hoping that he would 1 speedily recover, and that he would benefit considerably From Abo financial arrangements now being made. Further correspondence was received in regard to tho transfer of T. Jackson •from tho Villa Club (Christchurch) to the Seachff Club. Last week a letter was received from the Canterbury Association stating that Jackson was not financial with the_ club for ■■which he had played in Christchurch, so the association had ordered Jackson to stand down for one Saturday. The association had also endeavoured to secure his transfer through the Now Zealand Council, and had received the reply that the* transfer could not_ be granted on account of Jackson being unfmancial. Last evening Jackson 'attended the meeting and produced in writing his clearance from the Villa Club (Christchurch). Tho committee then decided to wire the Canterbury Association that the local association was satisfied with Jackson’s financial position, and that tho New Zealand Council be wired immediately for a transfer, in order that Jackson would be able to play for Sencliff against Canterbury in the Chatham Cup competition. Mr A. M'Lemian, of the Schoolboys’ Tournament Committee, attended the meeting in regard to the billeting of the players. Altogether there were eighty boys coming here and there were still billets to be arranged for about thirty players. Some'.of the boys were coming all the way from the West' Coast and Nelson, mid Mr M'Lennan. was surprised that more, offers had not been received for the billeting of they

f players. The boys would* arrive in Dunedin on Saturday, August 24, and return on Thursday, August 29, and the committee would be glad to receive offers for the billeting of the remainder of the lads. '['he Technical College Club wrote asking for transfers for several fifth grade players from one team to another. —It was decided to point out to the Technical Club that the rules provided for in this connection prohibited tho boys being transferred. It was still possible, however, for the boys who had recently left tho college to play for tho college team. As'the result of inquiries by the secretary. it was found that the association was unable to obtain a suitable ground for the Otago-Southland representative match on August 24.—The secretary was instructed to write to the Southland Association advising it of the position and suggesting that the match be postponed in the meantime. ■ The secretary was instructed to write to the Referees’ Club stating that numerous complaints had been received from various clubs that the appointed referees had nob turned up to their matches. Tho use of (he Robin Hood ground was granted to the Otago Scouts’ Association for September 7, for its annual match between Scoutmasters and Cubmasters.
