SOLVING THE FAMILY MAH’S TROUBLES
Thousands of .people will take thenholidays this year in caravans, and a large proportion will be people of small means/' 1 ' According to Mr J. Harris Stone, secretary ol the Caravan Club of Great Britain,' caravanning has been democratised by the cheapening of the motor car.
When a horse was essential to a caravan holiday it was the rich man’s .pastime. To-day the majority oi caravaners belong to the middle class. “It is the coming of the trailer caravan and the hire purchase system that has brought about the change,’’ said Mr Stone. “ There are trailer caravans to suit all pockets now from £4O up to £I.OOO or more. “ Tiie expensive models __ are, of course, luxurious, but a perfect little travelling furnished house can be had " for £l5O, “ Judging hv the correspondence 1 hare received, there will be at least twice as many caravnners this year as last. 1 don't think horse caravanning has decreased but the horse is favoured or.lv hwthoaa who wish to jcui througdi the country lanes and "by-ways. “Motor earnvaneis generally make for a- selected/stpot in the hear* of a -■ tpuring distn-t., and as* their cariv■;.aß a » (leadnnr.rtera from which they make their dailj iun»
