LORD STONEHAVEN

QUESTION OF SUCCESSOR AN UNCONFIRMED REPORT. LONDON, June 19. The Dominions Office knows nothing of the report from Australia that the Prime Minister (Mr MacDonald) intends to consult the Australian Prime Minister, Mr Bruce, immediately regarding the selection of a successor to the Governor-General, Lord Stonehaven. Mr MacDonald’s private secretary similarly knows nothing of the matter.

“if it is Mr MacDonald's intention then it must he’known only to himself,” he said. “He is still on holiday in Scotland, and made no reference to any such intention while in London.” It is considered unofficially as most unlikely at the present moment.
