THE mm ELECTIONS LABOUR DIVIDED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright CAPE TOWN, Juno 7. fßeceived June 8, at 10. IS a.m.) The general secretary of the Labour Council advises Labour sympathisers to vote for the South African Party. He states that the Labour Party lias been wrecked and ruined by selfishness and ambition. The introduction of unexpected elements into South African politics has left the country confused as to the prospects of the General Election. Ihe question of dominion status has been dispelled chiefly by differences among t!ie Dutch section of the population. The more sober clement believed that the present differences are not substantial. Uncertainty has arisen over the bitter division in the Labour ranks. The Croswellites and the Nationalists have solidly combined, while the supporters of the National Council aio now supporting the South African Partv. The only certainty is that Labour will be considerably weakened. Some commentators believe that the pact party will secure a majority sufficient to maintain a Government. Ministers expect to have a majority of thirteen, while the South African Partv anticipates a narrow majority over all parties.— Australian Press Association.
