JAMBOREE PARTY LEAVES
MINISTER PRESENTS COLOURS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 7. The party ot New Zealand Scouts leaving by th.) Tamaroa to-morrow morning for the jamboree, was accorded an official farewell at Parliament Buildings this morning, when the Minister of Labour (too Hon. W. A. Veitch) presented the iroop with its colours. Messages conveying best wishes for a successful ami profitable trip were received from the Governor-General (Sir diaries Fergnsson) and the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward), both ot whom expressed their confidence that the boys would worthily uphold New Zealand’s reputation at Home. Mr Veitc,, said that a great responsibility rested upon the members of the party, but he was sure they would not let the dominion down. As Boy Scouts ■they were all imbued with the highest ideals. fo r th° movement stood for unity, loyalty, and decency. Their creed was a simple one, but he doubted if it was such a simple matter to live up to it. It was the duty of Boy Scouts to engender goodwill, and he hoped they would remember that, not only abroad, hut when they returned to New Zealand.
Earlier in the morning the Scouts were inspected by Major-general Andrew, Chief Commissioner for New Zealand.
