Welkne made a great inn at the distance to win strongly by three-quarters of a length, with a head between second and third. Justify was fourth. Time, Jmin 44sec. NOTES ON THE RACING LMI-BCUX 10 IH* '&IAA.I AUCKLAND, June 5. Bright Light was favourite for the Campbell Hurdles, KilbUrii being next in demand, and Golden Wedding .third favourite. Mangani' and King’s Guard were the only scratchings. Bright Light took charge, and went out from Lady Spalpeen and Golden Wedding. Lady Spalpeen fell at the second fence. Passing the stands, the order was Bright Light, Horoniea, Golden Wedding, Karamu, and Kilburn. Horomea came to grief at the fence in front of the members’ stand. Bright Light was well clear of Golden Wedding, Karamu, and Kilburn. Across the top the order was the same, except that Kilburn went ahead of Karamu; Bright Light was first into the straight, and, going on nicely, won from Golden Wedding by four lengths, Kilburn being three lengths further back third, and Karamu came next. Fur the Visitors’ Handicap Black Duke, Otranto, and Chelone did not start. Backers went strongly lor Gold Money, which was a firm favourite, Awarere and Leitrim being the next fancied. Awarere jumped out smartly, and led Billikins, Storm Fiend, Rutiles, and Takutama. Awarere was still in charge across the top from Billikins, Kingfield, Leitrim, Takutama, Ruffles, and Gold Money. First into the straight was Awarere from Billikins, Gold Money, and Lucy Rose. In a great finish Gold Money won from Leitrim by half a head, Leitrim beating Awarere by three-quarters of a length. Takutama was fourth, and then finished Billikins, Oration, Kingfield, and Lucy Rose. . Golden Wedding and Horomea Jailed to come out for the Orakei Hurdle Race, and Overhaul was made favourlie, Otairi and Prince Lu being the next best backed. Prince Lu was quickest to the first jump, Sulla, Luminary, Harbour View, and Master Doon following in that order. At the second fence Sulla screwed, interfering with Overhaul, who lost his jockey. Sulla was pulled up- Past the stand the order was Prince Lu, Master Doon, Harbour View. Otairi, Luminary, Abbot’s Delight, and Star Comet. Otairi fell at the fence in front of the members’ stand. Along the back the positions were Prince Lu, Harbour View, Star Comet, Master Doon, Abbot’s Delight, Luminary, and Te Waka. Star Comet fell at the fence by the five long post, and Luminary and Te Wqka at the /.second to . the last obstacle.

Prince Ln came into the straight eight lengths in front of Barbour View, Muster Boon and Abbott’s Beliglii being next. Prince Ln went on to win by eight lengths, while Harbour View finished seven lengths ahead of Master Boon. Abbot’s Belight was ionrth, and Soami was the only other to finish, Frothblower having pulled up on the journey.. . Valkon was the only defaulter Irom the York Handicap. The public most favoured Mosque, with the bracketed King Lu and Queen Arch next. When the field settled down Marble King was in charge, showing the way along the back to The Hawk, King Lu, Hipo, Thursby, Seatown, Black Duke, Mosque,* and Barometer. Across the top the order was Marble King, Ohinemuri, King Lu, Hyde Park, Black Duke, Seatown, and, imokoa. When thev came into the straightMarble King was in front,, followed by Ohinemuri, Hyde Park, Seatown, King Lu, ami Queen Arch, with King Emerald and Tinokoa coming up on the outside. In the run home Seatown showed the best form arid passed the post three-quarters of a length in front of King Emerald, Barometer, being two lengths away third. Ohinemuri was fourth, and then came Tinokoa, Mosque, The Lover, Hyde Park, Corinax, and Black Duke. With Odin scratched there were eleven starters for the Winter Steeplechase. The popular fancy was Mangani; the next in order of favouritism being Wiltshire and Kawini. Passing the stand after the first jump the order was Mnngani, Young Thurnliam, Wiltshire, King Fame, Potoanni, Kafnehameha, Mannga, Uralla, Kawini, Glendowie, and Wedding March. Potoa11iii hit the sod wall,at the next jump, and dislodged his rider. Mangani, Mannga, and Wiltshire led up the hill, and when the field reached the stands again Mangani was leading Wiltshire, Uralla, Young Thurnham, Maunga, King Fame, Kawini, and Kameharnelia, .with Glendowie and Wadding March ■well back. King Fame fell at the fence at The foot of the hill, Mangani leading up the hill the last timeJToin Uralla, Kawini, Wiltshire, Kamehameha, Young Thurnham, Maunga, and Glendowie. Uralla fell at the fence on the hilltop, and Mangani crashed when leading at the stonewall at the fodt of the hill coming to the last fence. In the straight Kameiiniiielia had a slight lead over Kawini. but the former refused to jump, and Kawini went over to win by fifteen lengths from Wiltshire, av ho finished six lengths in front of Maunga. Young Thurnham ivas fourth, with Wedding* •March and Glendowie well back.
