ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS
“ Roslyn.”—The following has been sent by a reader: —Marshmallow filling. One and three-quarter cups granulated sugar, pinch salt, ball-cup water, hall-cup marshmallows, whites of three eggs. Place sugar, salt, and water in saucepan, add marshmallows, and boil until syrup spins a thread; then add slowly to beaten whites, and beat until firm enough to spread. Marshmallow' icing: Three-quarter cup granulated sugar, one-third cup water, about eight marshmallows, white "I one egg, flavouring desired to taste. Boil sugar and water without stirring. When syrup spins thread melt in it the marshmallows. Pour slowly over beaten white, add flavouring, etc., spread very thickly over the cake. “ Cook.”—l. have not been able to obtain a recipe for Paisley flour, but is it not the name of a certain brand of self-rising flour? “ Inquirer.”—You w'ould bo advised to have your beige chenille frock dry cleaned. "You can, however, wash it in petrol. Place petrol iw basin and wasn by plunging up and down, nibbing any soiled parts. Rinse well in fresh petrol. Dry on a. hanger and leave in the air until all smell has disappeared. Bo not use petrol near an open light or tire.
