A Conservative Budget amendment regretting that (here was no provision for reasonably saleguarding and protecting the interests of those engaged in agricultural and industrial pursuits was defeated in the House to-day by 62 votes. A Progressive sub-amend-ment urging an immediate substantial increase in British prelerenco was defeated by 136 votes.—Australian Press Association-United Service.
