INDIAN FRONTIER
TRIBAL FEUDS SERIOUS TROUBLE POSSIBLE Press Association —By Telegraph —Copyright. DELHI, April 1. (Received April 2, at 11.25 a.m.) Serious trouble is threatened on the north-west frontier in India owing to an outbreak of lighting between the tribes of the Sunnis and Shiahs. 'J he former are orthodox Moslems while the Shiahs arc regarded as heretics. Acute feeling between tlioso tribes culminated in war in 1927, when tho Shiahs were heavily defeated, and were driven into British territory. The Shiahs are now attempting to regain the captured country. If a move is made to invade Sunni territory widespread tribal fighting is certain. The great danger, howover, is that tho Sunnis may attack the Shiahs lirst. This would probably result in British territory being invaded.
A big British column at Ivoat is in readiness, and aeroplanes are engaged in dose reconnaissance.—Australian Press Association.
