SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS YESTERDAY’S PLAY Although great progress was made in the South Island lawn tennis championships yesterday,, it was not expected that they would finish to-day. There was a large attendance at the Anderson’s Bay courts yesterday afternoon to see some of the semi-finals. Angas had an easy win over Bray in the semi-final of the men’s singles, beating him in every department of the game. The other semi-final, between M'Dougall and Guy, was more even, and M'Dougall eventually came out the winner and will meet Angas in the final. Following are yesterday afternoon’s results:— MEN'S SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP —Semi-finals. — Angas (Christchurch) boat Bray, G-l, (3-0. S. G. M'Dougall heat Guy, 7-5, G-l. MEN’S DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP —Third Hound.— Guy and Moody beat Focken and Watson, G-3, 7-5. Angas and Boddy beat Tregear and Drew, 6-2, G-G. Bray and Wilkinson beat Robertson and Renton, G-2, 6-4.
