SCHOOL ATTENDANCES AFFECTED

MANY PUPILS ABSENT The attendances at. ninny of the city and suburban schools were seriously affected yesterday. as a result of the Hoods, ancl Iho disorganisation of transport facilities. Many had to close for the day, as only a few pupils managed to he present. The two schools affected most wore the Kensington and Albany Street, both of which were in the heart of tho Hooded areas. Less than half of the total number of pupils at the Girls’ High were present yesterday, and the school was accordingly closed. At the Boys’ High School ISA pupils were absent yesterday, and forty more arrived late owing to the delay of trains, cars, etc.
