EVACUATION OF KABUL SIR WILLIAM BIRD WOOD’S TRIBUTE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. DELHI, March 7. (Received March 8, at 9.25 a.m.) Speaking at the Council of State of New Delhi yesterday Sir William Birdwood made'a statement on the Kabul evacuations. He said that the magnificent results achieved wore due,to tho efficiency of the service. He emphasised that the operations were not of a. military character, and that the Royal Air Force pianos flying to Kabul carried no bombs or machine guns, and the pilots carried _ no signal pistols. The total evacuations were 586, including 642 Indians, fifty-seven Germans, forty-nine Turks, twenty-five Persians, twenty-three British and French, and nineteen Italians. Nadir Khan lias left Peshawar lor Parachinar, believed on route lor Kabul. He said he was not wanted in Kandahar, but he believed that Amannllab would soon become king again by the tribesmen’s vote.—Australian Press Association.
