OBITUARY

MRS ELIZABETH FINCH. ' Mrs Elizabeth Finch, of North-east Volley, wile of the late Mr Samuel Finch, passed quietly away on Friday last in her eighty-second year. Mrs Fioch was one of our early settlers, having arrived at Port Chalmers with her parents, the late Mr and Mrs Hanco Strain, on September 23, 1849, by the ship Cornwall. During the whole of her residence in New Zealand she lived in the Valley. Mrs Finch was of a retiring disposition, a most lovable nature, and much respected by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her .husband some thirty-one years. The late Mrs Finch leaves eight daughters surviving her—Mrs M. J. Jackson (Waitahuna), Mrs S. Reid (Hawera), Mrs M. Roberts (Hastings), Mrs E. Mangan (Dunedin), Miss Ida Finch and Mrs Edith Muir (both of North-east Valley), Miss Alice Finch (Sydney), and Mrs B. M. Griffiths (North-east Valley).
