POLICY CRITICISED [Special 10 the ' Stak.’] ’ WELLINGTON, March <h Though most of the coal mines on the West Coast are working almost full time tiie State mines have only given employment for seven days in the las'three weeks. Mr J. O’Brien (member for Wesland) has interviewed the Hon. W. A. Veitcl; (Minister of Mines) on the subject, strongly recommending that a more intensive sales policy should be adoptee by the State Coal Department to im prove business and keep its minerfully employed.' The Westland mcmbei declares that the State is being badh beaten by private enterprise in seeming available orders, and that in adds tion to giving more power to rctai depot managers to push sales the department should employ travellers tcanvass the large coal consumers.
