At 11 p.m. on the 21th the Moon passes flic star Pollux; it is full on the 2btli at 7 p.m., passes the star Regains and the planet* Neptune on the 27th at 8 and 11 a.m., respectively, and at 8 a.m. on the 31st. will be found close to the Harvest Star, fjpica. The planet Mercury is dose to the Sun at the liegin ling of the month, but may he looked for in the sunset sky about the 22nd, when it reaches elongation 19deg. east of the Sun. It is stationary among the stars on the 231 h. The brilliant planet Venus is stili prominent in the evening sky, and indeed is still drawing away from the Sun. The shape of the disc is now gibbous, hut only slightly fuller than the ‘‘ half moon phase. Mars, having passed opposition in December, 1928, is still prominent in the evening sky, and on the 27tli he will be stationary among the stars. Jupiter, with his fine retinue of moons, is still a glorious sight in the evening sky, and is in quadrature on I the 22nd.
