BOATING TRAGEDIES. , Yesterday afternoon a boat capsized in Puririui Harbour, and two of the occupants were drowned. It contained •six young men, who were crossing the liarbuai. 'The accident was witnessed by W'iPiam Mills,, who rowed to the roscm, and saved four. Tho other two, J. X. King (aged twenty-three) and J. R. Masterton (aged eighteen) could not bo ' luund, though four launches searched for them. J. L. John si on, a young Wellington man, was drowned at Lake Ferry, W'airarapa, last night, by the capsizing of a launch.—W’cllinglon Press Association message. ACCIDENTALLY SHO']'. An Ashburton Association message states that Gordon Cartwright, aged 19, sustained serious injuries yesterday while shooting. He was resting on his gun when the charge exploded, badly shattering his right hand and injuring his left. There has been no amputation so far. Cartwright is the county Rugby representative, and a well-known runner.
