BANDSMEN'S CARNIVAL

The carnival which has been held at St. Clair during the week under the auspices of the St. Kilda and the Tramways Bands will be brought to a conclusion to-night. The weather last night was not favourable for the holding of an ont-door carnival, and consequently there was as' ;e attendance, but those in charge of the numerous side-shows and stalls worked energetically to bring business. Though it is not'dikely that the £I,OOO aimed at by the promoters for the purpose of taking the bands to the Wanganui contest next year will be reached, the bands will benefit considerably by the efforts of the willing band of helpers, who have done so much to endeavour to ensure success. This afternoon a baby show was held, and attracted a large number of entries. Balloon bursting competitions caused much amusement.
