HANGED HIMSELF IN CELL

[Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, December 28. Thomas Pauling, a labourer, aged thirty-four, was found hanging in ilis cell at Mount Crawford Prison at 1.55 a.m. to-day. He made a rope by tearing his blankets into strips and tying the -- ’ together. Pauling was found in a state of helpless drunkenness, in Lambtoii quay on Christmas Eve, and was arrested and locked up at the Central Police Station; He became violent, however, and was removed to Mount Crawford. Deceased was to have been dealt with in the Magistrate’s .Court this morning.
