VAUDEVILLE TRIALS.
ro THB EDITOR. Sir,—Last Monday niglifc_ there were vaudeville trials in the King Edward Theatre which were supposed to ue for amateurs, and I would like to protest against tho awarding of a prise to a turn which has appeared on tho legitimate vaudeville stage as a professional act. The advertisements all stipulate that they are amateur trials, yet included among tho prize winners was a lightning sketch turn which has appeared on the. Fuller circuit under another name. This prize was awarded, although a demonstration was made against tho award. Ido not think that it is fair to those amateurs who are trying to seek a footing on the legitimate vaudeville stage if such persons are allowed to compete for prizes offered to amateurs.—l am, etc., December 19. Fair Play. [The management states that it_ was unaware that the act was a professional one, as it was entered in the usual manner along with the other amateur vaudeville entries.—Ed. E.S.]
