In order to increase tho efficiency, speed, cargo space, and iho comfort of passengers, the boilers of five of the principal Peninsular branch lino, of steamers in the Australian trade—the Baradine, the Balranald, the Ballarat, the Bendigo, and tho Barrabool—-will be converted into oil burners by tho new Baucr-Welch installation. The Baradine will be equipped at the end of March to enable her to sail_ in April, and tho others will be equipped as they arrive from Australia. The work is to be completed by June. Tho passenger accommodation will lie renovated and the ventilation will be improved.—United Service.
