CORPORATION EHPLBYEES The Dunedin City Corporation and Drainage Board Employees’ Sick Benefit Society held its annual meeting m the Y.M.C.A. lecture hall last evening, when the president (Mr J. Halford) occupied the chair. The society, which has been in operation for only eighteen months, thrives solely on the employees’ contributions, and since its inception £312 15s 3d has been paid in sick benefits and death claims. The balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed a credit of £I4S 9s Id for the past six months’ operations, as compared with £147 3s 7dfor the previous six months. The amount paid out in sick benefits alone during the last six months was £134 19s KM. The Secretary reported that the membership had grown to 275, and ho appealed to members for their support in building up a strong reserve fund to meet any heavy call which might be made. The question of granting bonuses to members was brought up, but it was the unanimous opinion of the meeting to postpone any such proposal until a substantial reserve fund was in hand. . A motion by Air Nelson that £250 be set aside for the reserve funds was carried. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted:—President, Mr T. Greig; vice-president, Mr J.
