OUTSTANDING ATTRACTIONS BOOKED Pictures and vaudeville of an exceptionally high standard will be presented at the Empire Theatre for the week commencing on Friday next. When the name of Cecil B. Do Mille is associated with a film production that in itself is an assurance of something unusually fine. ‘ The Leopard Lady' is his latest offering to the screen. Rupert Julian, the director, has presented, in a fascinating and engaging fashion, a story which is, different. Jacqueline Logan is the charming ‘ Leopard Lady ’ of a circus troupe travelling in Central Europe, who is seeking to fathom a murder mystery. The picture is said to bo packed w'ith highly dramatic scenes. The support-, ing players are well known, and include among others Hedwig Reicher, James Bradbury, sen., Dick _ Alexander, William Burt, and Sylvia Ashton. The picture was admirably directed by Rupert Julian. ‘ The Leopard Lady,' with its hidden romance and heart throbs, is an amazing portrait of the lives of sawdust performers. Equalling the splendid performance of Miss Logan as the leopard trainer are those of Robert Armstrong, in the leading male part, and Alan Hale in an unusually artistic characterisation, that of a rascally Cossack rider. Few screen teams have delivered to the public such consistently good pictures during the past twelve months as Jack Mulhall and Dorothy Mackaill. Brisk action and broad humour are the outstanding features_ of ‘ Man Crazy,’ their latest production for First National. The Empire management has been fortunate in securing the services of Manuel Hyman, who was the popular director of the Dunedin Exhibition cabaret, for a week. This announcement has created a great deal of interest,- and there is no doubt that this versatile musician will provide a delightful entertainment, In conjunction w'ith an excellent picture programme.
