BUENOS AIRES, December 0. A dispute of many years’ standing over tlio desolate Gran Chaco territory, on tho Paraguayan-Bolivian border, is threatening to cause war between tho two countries. Diplomatic relations have been severed by Bolivia, which presented a passport to the Paraguayan Charge d’Affaircs, while the Governments of both countries held secret. sessions to consider tho situation. To-night the Bolivian Chancellory refused the. Paraguayan offer to submit tho matter to an investigatory tribunal. The present difficulty was engendered when Paraguayan soldiers attacked a Bolivian fort on the: frontier, and a battle ensued, in whiy’htho majority of those killed were Bolivian soldiers. A communique stated: “It is a moment of a grave and extremely dangerous nature not only to the two peoples concerned, but to all American people.”— Australian Press Association.
