Y.W.C.A. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
At the monthly meeting of the above board, the president (Mrs Taverner) being in the chair Miss Moncneff’s appointment as joint secretary of the junior and senior clubs for the ensuing year was confirmed, and she will commence her work at the beginning of March. Tlie annual conference or tne Y.W.C.A. is to bo held this year at Nga Tawa, the, Diocesan School at Marton, from January 4 to 11, preceded by a girl citizens’ conference, which commences on December 27. Mrs Sutherland Ross, Mrs Elder, and Miss Hare were appointed as the board’s delegates to the conference. Plans for running the Y.W.C.A. until Miss MoncriefE’s arrival were discussed, and it was decided to ask Miss Smith to continue her work until the end of April, and Miss Jones until after the girl citizens’ conference. The rooms close from December 21 to January'?. It- was reported that the world fellowship fair, held at the beginning of this month, had realised a little over £9O. Although this was not as largo a sum as had been hoped for, it was sufficient to clear the amount needed for the world fellowship fund. Remits from the National Council of Women were received and discussed, Mrs Elder was appointed as interim re,presentative to the National Council of Women, and Mrs Ross to the Council of Religious Education and Council of Christian Churches. Of particular interest amongst the correspondence received was the annual report of the Flock House girls. The Y.W.C.A. endeavours to keep in touch with these girls after they leave Flock House, especially by finding someone in their neighbourhood to act as friend and. adviser.
This was the last board meeting which Miss Batt attended, and tho following minute of appreciation, read by Mrs Taverner and seconded by Mrs Ross, was sincerely endorsed by all present:—“Tho members of the Board of Directors of tho Y.W.C.A. of Duneam wish to place on record their deep regret at tho resignation of Miss Ethel Batt, who has occupied the position of general secretary for nearly four yearS. They cannot adequately express their appreciation of her devoted servicp during her term of office; her wide vision, foresight, and sympathetic understanding have been of untold' value in association work. They can only thank her and wish her every success, and assure her that the best wishes of the association go with her in whatever work she undertakes'.”
