COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' ENTERTAINERS

On .Saturday night the Commercial Travellers’ Entertainers hold their final social of tho season in tho club’s concert chamber. There was a largo,attendance, Mr J. Lindsay Millar, chairman, presiding. Mr Millar, in his opening remarks, said that they had had a very successful season, and a great deal of that success was duo to their indefatigable conductor, Mr G. J. Scott. As usual, concerts had been given at several philanthropic institutions, and lie thought it would he better if those visits were made earlier in tho season. Ho; thanked the members for their loyal support, and urged them to get others to join the choir. A short toast list was then gone through. The chairman proposed “Mr J. Gillan, Deputy Chairman,” In doing so, ho said Mr Giilan was one of tho hardest workers in connection with tho interests of tho club and tho association, and had always taken a. keen interest in the entertainers, having acted as_ secretary for many years. Mr Giilan, in reply, said that his position as deputy-chairman was a sinecure, as owing to Mr Millar always being present his services wore never required. Still that was as it should bo. It was true lie took a great interest in tho entertainers, and he considered them the strongest “off-shoot” of tho association. On behalf of that body he thanked them for their services, and wished them every success. “Our Conductor, Mr G. J. Scott,” was proposed by Mr A. Dempster, who said that Mr Scott had done great work for the choir; ho was tho right man in the right place. Other toasts honoured were:—“Deputy Conductor, D. Fogarty” (proposed by Mr G. <J. Scott), “Accompanist A. L. Burke” (Mr B. Collie), and “Tho Chairman” (Mr A. Burke).
