Tho Knox College Mastership report was presented at yesterday’s session of the General Assembly of tho Presbyterian Church by tho Hey. 11, H. Harlem lb was first of all-decided that tho_ retiring age of tho master bo sixty-live. The report stated that tho committee elected by the Assembly had gone carefully into tho position, and tbo merits of those nominated for the ollico, and following on u cablegram from Dr ilindou had erased his name at his request. Dr Kirk’s name had also had to 1,0 dropped. The committee, after earnest consideration, had decided to recommend that tho Assembly receive the names of tbo Revs. Dr E. N. Herrington, E. Tiplcr, and W. H. Hlaek in that order. So close was the dividing lino in tho committee that arrangements had been made to have each ol these names duly nominated to the Assembly. Tho rciporb was received. Tho Rev. George Miller moved “That Dr Herrington be appointed to the position.” This was seconded oy tho Rev. H. J. Ryburn. Tho Rev. C. J. Tucker moved:— “That tho Rev. E. J. Tiplor ho appointed,” and the Rev. D. C. Herron seconded. , , , The Rev. J. M. M'Kenzio moved:— “That tho Rev. W. Hewer Rlack lx; appointed,” and Hr T. C. Hiascb seconded. Tho result of the vote gave Dr Herrington a. majority over Hie other nominees of fifteen votes. Professor llcwitson, vim lias Idled tho position of Master of Knox College since its inundation twenty years ago, mado known to tiro newly-elected master tho election which had come to him by the unanimous vote of tho Assembly, and Dr Herrington suitably replied.
