It is now more di(lieult to secure supplies of good quality chaff, and best linos are worth up to £6 per ton (sacks extra), ex truck. The firmer feeling that was experienced in the oat market has not boon maintained. Millers have enough stocks to carry on, and North Island merchants do nob appear to be interested to any extent. A Cartons aro worth nominally 4s Id, f.0.b., s.i., and B’s 3s 7d. These prices aro equivalent to 3s 3d (sacks extra) on tracks, country sidings, and 2s 2d for B’s. The wheat market remains steady. It is reported _ that Otago millers have secured a fair quantity of next season s ■wheat from Ashburton and North Canterbury districts. The fowl wheat market is quiet. Merchants are carrying sufficient stocks to meet all requirements. The present value in Dunedin for good whole fowl wheat is round about 6s per bushel (sacks extra). Millers’ prices are as follow Flour: 200’s, £l6 15s; 100’s, £l7 15s; 50’s, £18; 25’s, £lB 10s. Bran, £7. Pollard, £8 10s. Oatmeal: 25’s, £23; 200’s, £22. The potato market is very short supply. Old potatoes are now unprocurable, and any new potatoes coming forward are readily placed. North Islandgrown are realising from 3d to 3Jd per lb and local grown from to sd. The onion market is also short supply, and they are selling at 35s per cwt. Australian onions will be on the market shortly, and prices will come back quickly.
