OTAGO CENTRE MEETING COACHING COMMITTEE APPOINTED Last night's meeting of ilio Otago A mate nr Athletic Centre was presided over tho president (Air E. L. Alacassoy) Mr Scales wrote stating that as an interested spectator at the sports at Forbury Park ho wished to bring under notice tho poor chance tho public had of getting any results of heats and finals, Tho megaphomsfc certainly did his best, but lie suggested that tw or three geod-sized blackboards should also he used at tho next big meeting.—ft was decided to thank the writer of the letter for his suggestions and to refer them to the Sports Committee. » , Tho Secretary of the Otago Amateur Cycling Club notified its intention of holdin" an afternoon meeting at tho Caledonian Ground on December 15, at which botli running and cycling events would bo staged. Tho Chairman referred to tho activities of the Training and Selection Committee last season, and stared it was desirable that something similar should bo done this season.—lt was resolved that a Coaching Committee bo appointed, comprising Messrs ■ . Bcatsou, E. A. Bastings, 0. AV. Clark, If. D Morgan, J). AV. ihnv.s, and h. |J JsGnT'Si Tho Chairman said that the committee would endeavour to arrange a series of talks to tho runners from wellknown old-timo athletes. The subject of cyclists’ handlers Mas considered in committee, the sub-com-mitteo which had interviewed ho <;relists desirous of Innslernng to tho Otago Amateur Cycling Club reporting on the matter. The applications lor transiers ol Jt. Ockvvell (Pacific), J. L. Ewing (Civ; Service), and A. L. Eosonbrock (Civil Service) to the Otago Amateur Cycling Club were confirmed. Letters were received from t. A* • Fallowficld J. 0. Campbell, and H. G. Cooper stating that they wished to withdraw their applications tor transfers from the Pacific Club to the Otago Amaetur Cycling Club, tho lot-, ters being received. Jb was decided that any other cyclists wishing transfers must apply by letter personally. Mr F. D Gibson said, as a rule, four or five evening meetings were put on bv the clubs during tho season, and it the delegates could get together and agree to Clio prizes being provided in proportion to the entry money received it would encourage the younger dub.s to put on evening meetings, Mr Breen said ho thought the suggestion was a good one, but considered that if any club put on evening meetings their events should not count for 'points for the centre’s special trophies. Ho gavo notice in movu at the nest centre meeting that points for trophies bo awarded only lor events staged at meetings put on by tho centre. . , , The delegates were advised to take note of the suggestion. Keferoneo was made by Air Clark lo tho splendid work done by Mr P. A\. Breen in connection with the recent motor and athletic sports at Forbury Park, and it was decided to place on record a minute expressing appreciation of Ah Breen’s efforts in this direction.
