NOTE RECALLS MEMORY

A MAN WITH £l6O Largely through the medium of a letter written by his wife the memory of Henry Victor Charley, of Dinas Powis, Glamorganshire, was restored. On September 25 Mr Charley walked into St. Albans Police Station and asked for help, stating he had left home with £l6O to pay bills, but could not remember his name or address. He had been missing from hie home since September 11. ...

Mrs Charley read the description circulated by the police, and wrote to the chief constable of St. Albans, enclosing a photograph of her husband. When Mr Charley was shown the letter he exclaimed, “ That is my wife’s handwriting,” and immediately remembered his name. During the war ho was a lieutenant in the Royal Engineers.
