HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
MISS BANHERMAH'S SUCCESS Another big success was scored by the distinguished London actress. Miss Margaret Bannerman and her company at His Majesty’s Theatre last night, when tho melodramatic farce ‘ Other Men s Wives ’ was given its second presentation. Walter Hackett’s three-act play is packed with thrills and comedy, and the part of Patricia calls for tho work of an actress with a range of histrionic ability from farce to drama. Miss Bannerman was superb, and her personality and appearance completely captivated the audience. Ellis Irving was also excellent as Anthony Peel, tho indiscreet young Englishman, while tho other members of tho small but select company gave every satisfaction. ‘Other'Men’s Wives’ will be presented finally to-night. ‘OUB BETTERS’TO-MORROW. To-morrow and Thursday evenings Miss Bannerman will appear in ‘Our Betters,’ in which this brilliant actress made her name a household word throughout England. In Melbourne Miss Bannerman, in ‘ Our Betters,’ was chosen as tho attraction to open tho new J.C. Williamson comedv theatre in that city. “ Tho name of Miss Bannerman,” wrote a critic, “will remain impressed in minds of Melbourne playgoers with tho early history of the beautiful Williamson comedy theatre, and there should nob be a more pleasant and appropriate association. Her introduction to Australia proved her to be an artist of exceptional charm and ability, and her performance in ‘Our Betters 1 will always ho remembered as one of the most delightful ever enjoyed in this city.” It is said that the frocks worn by Bliss Bannerman in ‘ Our Betters ’ created something like a sensation in Australia, and tho scenery and the stage settings are said to be superb. Only tho two representations can be staged of ‘ Our Betters,’ and the last two nights of tho season will be devoted to tho comedy-drama ‘ Diplomacy.’
