The Kartigi left 'Wostiimrt yesterday with coal for Bluff, Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. She is due here on Sunday. The ‘Wiugatui was to leave Wellington to-day for Lyttelton and Dunedin. She loads out early next week for Timaru, Lvltcltou, Wellington, and Auckland. The Waitemata left Now Plymouth yesterday for Nelson, Lyttelton, and j Dimodin. She is due at this port r.n i November 25, and is scheduled to sail again three days brier ior Westport’ and Vancouver. The Kahika is to leave Napier on Saturday for Dunedin, ami is to load out on Tuesday for Napier and Gisborno via way ports. The Breeze arrived last night Lorn Wellington, and is timed to sad tonight for 'Timaru, Lyttelton, .Wellington, and Wanganui. The Holindato is expected to arrive to-morrow from Wellington to discharge and load general merchandise. She is expected to sail again to-morrow right for Wanganui via, ports. The Copenhagen is duo at Lyttelton to-day with phosphates from Ocean Island. ’ After discharging the Canterbury portion of her cargo she will complete at Port Chalmers. H.M.S. Diomede arrived at Snv i. on Friday on route from Portsmouth to New Zealand, after refitting. Tno vessel sailed from Portsmouth on September 4, and on her way tomb :J at Maderia, Trinidad, Panama, San Pedro, and Honolulu. To land part of her cargo of asphalt from Mexico, tho King Edgar arrived at Lyttelton yesterday moruvig from Dunedin. She will continue discharge at Wellington and Wanganui, and finish at New Plymouth. THE FERRY SERVICE. Tho ferry steamer Wahino arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.50 this morning. Passengers and mails connected with the express for the south, THE MAUI POMARE. The Government steamer Maui Pomare sailed lor Norlolk Island on Saturday afternoon with forty-seven passengers, as well as mail and cargo. The vessel is due to return to Auckland next Saturday, and is scheduled to sail for Nino Island and Apia on November 20 to load fruit and_ other Island produce for Dunedin, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Auckland. TRANSPACIFIC CARGO SERVICE.

Sussex, which lelt Wellington on October 17 for Vancouver and Los Angeles to load for Hobart, Beauty Point, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney, was duo at Vancouver on Tuesday. She is expected to clear Los Angeles early in December. Wairuna left Fanning Island on November 2 for Vancouver, where she is duo on November 17. She will jr.oceed thence to Sa.n Francisco and Los Angeles to complete loading ior Papeete, Auckland,. Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. ■ Waikawa will leave Suva, about .November 17 for. Vancouver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles to load for" Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, and Neiv Plymouth. Hanraki, from Adelaide, arrived at Sydney on November 10, and will proceed thence to Vancouver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

CANADIAN HIGHLANDER NEXT WEEK,

Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that tho Canadian Highlander is to leave Wellington this evening for Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin to discharge tho remainder of her general cargo from Montreal. The vessel will also load products at the ports named for Nmv York, Boston, and Halifax. She is due at Dunedin on November 20, MINNIE MOLLER TO DOCK, Tho Minnie Mollcr (late Kauri), which has been purchased by the Shanghai firm of Moller and Co., arrived at P.ort Chalmers yesterday for decking, and will probably sail on Friday. Her new owners already own a small fleet of steamers _ trading between Eastern ports. Captain F. V. Benz has brought a Chinese crew numbering thirty-two to take tho vessel to Shanghai. His officers are Mr R. Cordy, chief; Mr W. ,51‘Donald second; and Air A. Springer third. Air E. R. Grafter, D.S.C., is chief engineer, Air G. Dick second, and Air A. Ross third. HERTFORD ARRIVES. With cargo from Newport, Bristol, Glasgow, and Liverpool, the Federal steamer Hertford arrived at Port Chalmers this morning via northern ports after an uneventful passage. The Hertford sailed from Liverpool on September 15, and cleared Panama on October 1. On October 13 a short stay was made off Pitcairn Island. Captain C. R. She will leave the New South Wales port this afternoon for Vancouver via Auckland, Suva, and Honolulu. '.Tho Niagara, which left Auckland on October 23, arrived at Vancouver on Saturday, Sho was to sail yesterday for Sydney via Honolulu, Suva, mid Auckland. OBITUARY. Word was received recently at the New York office of the International Alercautile Alariuo Company of the death in Liverpool, on September 30, of Captain Samuel Bolton, D.S.C., R.N.R., master of_ tne White Star liner Doric, which is engaged in the Aiontrcal-Livcrpool trade, and in whiten cruises out of New York to tho Mediterranean. Captain Bolton, who was fifty-six years of age, rose from the ranks in 'the White 1 Star-Dominion service. and had been in command of tho Doric since she was put into service in 1923. During the war he was first lieu tenant on tho Cedric, then an armed merchantman, and later saw service on tho “Q ” boats, disguised merchantmen that bristled with concealed guns and operated in submarineinfested waters to lure the undersea monsters into point-blank v ange.
